The Big Trip...

What? We’re taking a trip? Where…..where…..where??? The VET!!! I think I’ll go hide in the closet. Waving that treat in my face is not going to do it….it would have to be a whole ham….and I’m not even sure I’d come out for that. Girl says I  must go because it’s good for me to stay healthy. She says I must set a good example for Kitty when it’s her turn. I can’t argue with that too much so let’s make the best of it. I hop in the back of the car and Owner takes off. 


Thru the little town, Owner navigates the streets expertly until we pull in the drive. Girl takes me for a walk over to a bright red fire hydrant that says “Pee Post” on it….Really? how cliché. I don’t think so. In the waiting room there are 2 other dogs with me. There’s a pug called “Princess” and a chocolate lab puppy named “Bear” Princess is aloof and won’t even look in my direction. Bear, could not be more opposite. Play with me….. Play with me….. Play with me…..come on……you know you want to…. Play with me….. Play with me. One swish of my tail and he’s on his back whimpering like the little puppy he is. Girl apologizes to Bear’s owner who in turn has scolded Bear sufficiently. “She doesn’t want to play right now, Bear. Maybe she’s a little nervous to see the doctor”…darn right I’m nervous!. It’s finally our turn and we go in. 


The doctor is very nice indeed. He takes his time to check my teeth and ears and fur. There seems to be something wrong with my ears and the doctor gives Owner some drops for them.  Twice a day for 10 days. I can deal with drops. Afterwards Owner says I was so good and the whole family goes out for ice cream. Boy and Little Girl are exceedingly glad to have the ice cream and I overhear them ask Owner when I will have to go again so more ice cream can be had. Owner says not until next year. NEXT YEAR? You mean I have to go EVERY YEAR? ……I need a hug…..Peace out Pups!
